3 Kids Out

Since baby Zoe arrived I have been dreading the first time I ventured out with all three kids.  It seemed like the challenges would be overwhelming.  Two hands and three kids, including one in a car carrier.  Having a 4 year old, a not quite 2 year old, and a newborn - what was I thinking??  


I decided to try the first trip out while my mom was still here.  I figured her help would be essential to working out all the kinks.  We decided to hit up the grocery store and see how that went.  Zoe rode in the back part, Anna sat up front, and Charlie rode on the back.  Charlie and Anna were both in their normal positions, so they were okay with things.  The only hitch was figuring out where to put the groceries.  I ended up grabbing a basket and putting it underneath the cart.  This works out well as long as I am not trying to buy too much stuff.

Unfortunately my mom eventually had to leave and the trips with all three became mine alone.  I needed to pick up some preordered pictures from Walmart, so I decided to give that a try.  Since the photos were already paid for I knew the trip would be relatively quick.  I packed up the kids in the van and off we went.  Anna decided this time that she did not like sitting up front in the cart but wanted to sit in the back where Zoe was.  I decided that I was not going to budge on her sitting up front or there would be battles every time.  Luckily she realized she wasn't going to win and gave up fighting after a minute.  Overall the kids were awesome, and I basically ran in and out to avoid a meltdown.  Plus, I promised donuts on the drive home, so the kids were on their best behavior.  I have no problem with bribery!

Tummy Time!

Zoe has some tummy issues, so we lay her on her stomach at times because it seems to help.  Charlie and Anna decided to keep her company the other day, and it was too cute not to get a picture of.

Dentist

No cavity club certificates

We headed to the dentist the other day.  Both Anna and Charlie had simultaneous appointments, so I brought our babysitter Jana along to help out with the three kids.  Thankfully Zoe slept through the whole thing so she was no problem.

The dentist is great because one of his rooms is a double room for siblings.  There are two chairs right next to each other, and the techs will work on both kids at once.  Makes for a very fast appointment, which I love!

Jana sat next to Charlie since he is an old pro at getting his teeth cleaned.  He did perfectly.  It was only Anna's second time, and she was a little concerned about everything.  I ended up laying on the chair and holding her.  Overall she did pretty well.

Both kids were cavity free.  They were thrilled to get to pick a new toy from the dentist before leaving.  They both chose a little bouncy ball, both of which were lost within a day, but they were so proud to get a reward for no cavities.  I'm glad to have 6 months before we have to attempt that again!

In the kid pool

Because this summer has been insanely hot, Zach has been trying to get the kids to the neighborhood pool.  There is a regular size pool and then a kiddie one, which is great.  I haven't been up there yet (I'm not a big pool fan) but Zach says the kids love it there.  I am so glad we have somewhere so close to take them to cool off.  Charlie and Anna just love swimming and play really well together.

My wonderful, funny, sassy, energetic, just all around amazing Anna on her birthday day.  She felt so beautiful in her new shirt that combined two favorite things: Hello Kitty and Jayhawks.

 

Toy Story Time

The kids love the Toy Story movies.  Zach and I were at the mall the other day and came across pajamas with the Toy Story characters on them.  We picked up Woody for Charlie and Jessie for Anna.  We were so excited to bring them home to the kids.  Zach was not around that afternoon when I gave the pjs to the kids but my mom was.  I gave Charlie his, and he was so happy.  Then Anna saw hers.  To say total meltdown is an understatement.  She was beyond ticked.  Anna was yelling "Woody" and crying.  There was no way she was going to wear the second best Jessie pajamas.  Poor girl was horribly traumatized.  I made her apologize for yelling at me, which she did, but then she promptly gave Grandma a kiss while staring at me.  It was like she was saying "I'll say sorry but I don't have to like it or mean it!"  Sassy pants here.  


That night Zach and I went out and got a second pair of Woody pjs.  I gave them to Anna the next morning.  I wish I could figure out how to upload the video of her getting them.  She just saw the bag from the Disney Store and started yelling "Woody!  Woody!"  When I pulled them out, she was beyond joy.  Here are my two cuties in their Woody clothes.  One of my favorite pictures ever!
